Saying Goodbye to a Disney Classic: My Final Ride on the Liberty Square Riverboat
There’s something peaceful about drifting down the Rivers of America at Walt Disney World. The soft whistle of the Liberty Belle, the gentle splash of the paddlewheel, and the breeze off the water all make it one of the most relaxing experiences in Magic Kingdom.
But sadly, this classic ride — the Liberty Square Riverboat — is set to sail its final voyage.
In my latest YouTube video of riding the Liberty Square Riverboat:
I take you aboard one of the Magic Kingdom’s most overlooked gems. The Liberty Belle Riverboat glides past Tom Sawyer Island, through historical scenes, and offers beautiful views of Frontierland and Liberty Square.
I love listening to the sounds of the steamboat, train horn and all the wonderful sounds of Frontierland. It’s scenic. It’s everything I love about those slower Disney moments — the kind that let you catch your breath in between all the adventure and pixie dust.
According to Disney’s most recent announcements, the riverboat and surrounding areas — including Tom Sawyer Island— will be closed permanently to make way for a new Cars-themed land. While change is part of Disney’s magic, it’s bittersweet to see charming, nostalgic rides like this disappear.
So, I wanted to document this moment — to say thank you to a peaceful corner of the park that always offered a slower, more reflective experience.
I created this video to celebrate the beauty of the Liberty Square Riverboat one last time. I hope it brings you the same peace it gave me while riding — and maybe a touch of nostalgia too.
Don't be surprised if I post another video of riding the boat around dusk too.
Don’t forget to like, comment with your favorite riverboat memory, and subscribe for more Disney travel moments!
Here was a video of my first ride on the Riverboat too:
As Cars Land prepares to roll into Magic Kingdom, I’ll be sharing updates, reactions, and more travel videos from Disney and beyond. Whether you're a fellow nostalgic Disney fan or just looking for a calm escape, I hope you’ll stick around.
